Pecan Creek Ranch in Llano County offers an escape from the ordinary with history, seclusion, and natural beauty. The land here, north of Llano and off of Texas 16, has been in the same family for generations.
You will feel worlds away amid 1,900 acres of historic ranchland. Take a hike to explore your surroundings, watch a sunset or two, go fishing in one of the stock ponds, ready your camera for a wildlife sighting, or dip your feet in the creek. Pecan Creek Ranch has two homes that you can rent separately or together, depending on the size of your group.
The larger of the two, Pecan Creek Lodge, has three bedrooms, making it quite the venue for reunions, retreats, hunting trips, or whatever event brings your group together. The lodge’s wide front porch welcomes you with a plethora of seating before you even walk inside.
Enter the terra cotta-tiled living area with mounted trophies and a vintage Texas map lining the walls, and a leather sofa and chairs invite you to sit a spell.
Bring your fixings and favorite recipes and let the well-stocked and equipped kitchen help you prepare a memorable meal for this special escape. A few steps outside, a charcoal grill stands ready to take on your protein or vegetable of choice.
You might call Pecan Creek Cottage a smaller version of Pecan Creek Lodge. It has the same amenities as its bigger sibling but emits more of a country cottage atmosphere with homey touches all about. This cozy home is a great place for couples and has a comfortable queen-size bed. Extra guests can enjoy a queen-size sleeper sofa in the living room.
There’s much to see, do, and explore here, but if you feel the need to un-seclude for an hour or two, the city of Llano’s shops, galleries, eateries, and small-town charm lie a few miles down the road. Just come back in time to admire a Llano County sunset.
After dark and before bedtime, sit down and enjoy a movie with a retro touch. Both the lodge and the cottage have TVs with VCRs.
After a few days here, you might find it hard to leave this splendid isolation behind. But then, there’s always a next time. It’s where to stay in Llano County.
