A Dickens of a Christmas in Llano

Llano is making a tradition of celebrating the holidays olde-school style with the fun and whimsical A Dickens of a Christmas. The second annual event takes place Dec. 6-8, 2024, in downtown Llano with some events at other locations in town. 

A Dickens of a Christmas whisks visitors away to Christmastime in Victorian England with a host of merriment and characters straight out of the classic Charles Dickens novel “A Christmas Carol.” The festivities are sure to fill any Scrooge with a healthy dose of holiday cheer. The festival is free to attend. The dinner theater, pancake breakfast, home tour, and Victorian tea require tickets.

Friday, Dec. 6

A Dickens of a Dinner Theater

Lutie Watkins Methodist Church, 800 Wright St. in Llano

6 p.m.

Dine in Victorian luxury with a savoury four-course meal and entertainment by Damian Gillen and his one-man show, “Bah Humbug!” Guests are encouraged to dress in period attire or holiday finest.

Saturday, Dec. 7

Pancakes with Santa & Mrs. Claus

Lutie Watkins Methodist Church, 800 Wright St. in Llano

9-10:30 a.m. 

Guests should be on their best behavior when breakfasting with Santa and Mrs. Claus or they might end up on the Naughty List. 

Dickens of a Christmas Bazaar

Llano Art Guild, 503 Bessemer Ave. in Llano

10 a.m.-4 p.m.

Don’t let finding the right gift haunt you. Local artists display fantastic creations.

A Dickens of a Christmas Festival

First Baptist Church parking lot, 107 W. Luce St. in Llano

3:30 p.m.

Watch three-person teams compete in youth and adult categories in this Victorian holiday-themed race of decorated beds. 

Lighted Christmas Parade

Around the Courthouse Square

6 p.m.

Llano ushers in the holiday season with a parade and the opening of its Starry Starry Nights lights display, located at Badu Park.

Sunday, Dec. 8

A Dickens of a Victorian Tea

1400 Oatman St. in Llano

3 p.m.

Enjoy a spot of tea accompanied by an array of savories, scones and jam, and sweets. Entertainment will be provided by Lakeway-based aka, a collective of performers.
