A pinch of Old Western charm and a heaping helping of modern day Texas is what visitors will discover in downtown Llano. The Llano River flows directly through the little town, which is a fine blend of old and new. The Llano County Courthouse and Old Red Top Jail built in the 1890s loom large on the square. Shops, eateries, galleries, entertainment spots, and watering holes fill the historic downtown area with an eclectic mix.
A stroll around the central courthouse square is anything but sleepy. Lined with a nice mix of local establishments, visitors will find everything from coffee and clothing to restaurants, records, and rocks—yes, rocks in the easily walkable area. Some of the businesses are a short drive from the downtown square but absolutely worth the few-minute trip.
